Through the Reeds
Lake District, England
Among the vast peaks and familiar grandeur of the Lake District, it was this quieter detail that held my attention. I’ve always been drawn to the smaller elements within a landscape, the moments that sit just outside the obvious.
These reeds rose gently from the edge of Buttermere, their fine lines catching the light against a softened wash of autumn colour beyond. They’re easy to overlook, and rarely still long enough to photograph. Most days, the wind never gives you the chance.
But for a brief moment, the water settled, the movement paused, and the scene simplified. Nothing dramatic, nothing forced. Just a small, fleeting alignment within a much larger landscape.
