Details behind
the work
This page brings together everything you may wish to know when considering a work from The Basten Gallery, from limited editions and archival production to framing, sizing, delivery and care. Explore the sections below, or select a topic to go directly to the information you need.
________

Archival photographic production
Each artwork is produced as a fine-art photographic print, with the paper selected by Bradley and Jordan to best complement the character of the image. Colour, tonal range, contrast and texture are considered together, allowing each work to be presented in the form that best serves the photograph.
Rather than offering paper as a customer-selected option, each edition has an intended finish. The paper used for an individual artwork will be shown on its artwork page, with further details available below.
________
Smooth Photographic Paper
A smooth photographic paper is selected for works where clarity, colour separation and tonal depth are particularly important. Its refined surface allows fine detail to remain crisp while supporting rich blacks, subtle highlights and strong colour reproduction.
This finish is particularly suited to photographs with expansive tonal ranges, intricate landscape detail or a greater sense of luminosity and depth.
Textured Fine-Art Paper
A matte fine-art paper is chosen where the physical character of the surface can become part of the work itself. Its softer finish reduces reflection and gives colour and tone a more tactile, understated quality.
It is particularly suited to quieter or more atmospheric photographs, where subtle transitions, muted colour and texture are central to the image.

EDITIONS
Limited by design
Each artwork is released in an edition of 30 prints per available size. Each size forms its own edition, so a work offered in two sizes has 30 prints available in each.
Every print is supplied with a certificate of authenticity recording the artwork title, artist, print size and edition number.
The certificate forms part of the work’s provenance and confirms its place within the limited edition.
Authentication
Every edition is supplied with a certificate of authenticity recording the artwork title, artist, print size and edition number.
The certificate forms part of the work’s provenance and confirms its place within the limited edition.

FRAMING
A considered presentation
Framing is intended to sit quietly around the work, giving the photograph space while providing a refined and protective finish. Our signature presentation uses a substantial black timber frame, paired with a clean conservation mount and specialist glazing selected to help protect the print for long-term display.
The result is deliberately classic and understated: a frame that belongs comfortably in both contemporary and traditional interiors without competing with the photograph itself.
The Signature Frame
Our standard framed editions are presented in a black timber frame with a white conservation mount, creating separation between the artwork and its surroundings while keeping the focus firmly on the image.
Protective glazing is selected with clarity and longevity in mind, helping reduce the effects of UV exposure while allowing the colour, contrast and detail of the print to remain clearly visible.
Alternative Presentations
The signature frame is our preferred presentation for The Basten Gallery collection, but we appreciate that every interior is different.
Alternative framing, mount and presentation options can be explored by request. If you are working with a particular space, existing collection or interior scheme, please contact us and we can discuss an appropriate approach.
