Burning Hills

Cornwall, England

Standing above Warren Point, the coastline unfolded in layers. The hills caught the last light first, glowing warm against the cooler tones of sea and shadow. The scene felt resolved on the ground, but unfinished above.

At first, the sky offered very little. Clear, pale, almost absent. Then, quietly, a handful of dense clouds began to form, spaced just enough to hold the frame together. They arrived without drama, extending the colour and tension already present in the land below.

The composition carries a sense of movement without urgency. The river curves gently toward the sea, the cliffs step back into depth, and the light settles rather than fades. It’s a busy frame, but a controlled one. Energy held in place, allowing chaos and calm to exist side by side.
